Hi any help would be great.

I have a galaxy mk2 petrol 2.3

It has recently developed a strange fault.

You can turn the key in the ignition to start the engine and it will not do anything at. Not a squeak from the engine at all

Any help?

Do you get any lights on the instrument cluster when you try to start? The petrol models have a fairly common problem with a relay in the fusebox which packs up, I can't remember the number of it, somebody else here should be able to chime in with that info.

Called out the AA again. this time a proper chap rather than someone they sent as they were too busy.

He knew exactly what the problem was and went straight to relay 30!

replaced this and now starting fine.

Fitted a new starter motor and did not solve the problem. Possibly an Immobiliser fault?

Relay 30 as you discovered is the problem. And yes its an immobiliser fault as you suspected as relay 30 supplies the power for the immobiliser!

I have a similar problem on my 1.9tdi does this relay 30 apply to diesels or is my problem a faulty start motor? I can start it with a bump

Relay 30 is petrols only and 109 will not affect starter, check starter, wiring and ignition switch.
